The facelifted Mazda CX-5 includes mild refinements like an updated exterior, a streamlined turbo model trim, and a standard all-wheel-drive system across the lineup.
The four-cylinder engine on the CX-5 shares the same driving personality as its turbocharged four, but its ride and handling balance is unmatched in this segment. There are better alternatives, especially in terms of cargo space, but no competitor comes close to Mazda’s elegantly designed and lavishly equipped interior.
Exterior of the Mazda CX-5
The front and rear of the vehicle have been redesigned. By extending the hood line over the new three-dimensional grille, the vehicle appears to lean forward from any angle. We are now seeing rectangular LEDs as part of the headlights, as well as redesigned taillights and new alloy wheel designs.
Interior of the Mazda CX-5
The SUV continues to come with the same 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The model also has a wireless phone-charging tray and interior space has been bolstered by a two-piece, reversible boot floor panel. Newground models receive a floorboard with a water-resistant side for wet or dirty items.
The CX-5 gets a new Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) system that enables the driver to change comfort and stability settings with one touch of a switch. It is mated to different driving modes including a new off-road mode. Wireless Qi phone charging feature is also new on the list.
Furthermore, a new cushioning system and added support have improved the seats to provide greater stability and comfort.
Performance of the Mazda CX-5
This new trim replaces the previous Grand Touring Reserve trim, which referred to a 2.5-litre turbo-inline-four motor with 250 horsepower.
Front-wheel drive is no longer available on the CX-5. As a standard feature, all versions now feature Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel-drive. Engine options include a 187-horsepower 2.5-litre inline-four-cylinder base engine or a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. Mazda claims that its six-speed automatic transmission paired with either engine is more responsive as a result of retuning. Moreover, with a more rigid frame and improved suspension, the CX-5 will be quieter and ride better.
